The American Academy of Landscape Design is an advanced curriculum. It's aimed at improving your understanding of the most sophisticated and often overlooked aspects of landscape design. Graduates will gain confidence and skills. They’ll set themselves apart from other designers and will effectively be able to communicate ideas based on sound design principles.
The Academy has been a longtime dream of founder Tim Thoelecke Jr. His company Garden Concepts designed and built custom residential landscapes for nearly 20 years. In that time they won numerous awards and press recognition. Garden Concepts' Vision Statement reads "Be recognized, within and outside the profession, as an innovative leader in the design and installation of high quality, custom residential landscapes." That vision is behind the mission of the Academy as well.
The American Academy of Landscape Design was created in response to a long-standing need in the landscape industry. That need was for high quality, efficient training in the field of landscape design. Professional landscape designers and landscape architects are busy people, especially at certain times of the year. Spring can be "like trying to drink out of a fire hydrant," according to one familiar with the seasonal rush. For this reason, classes are offered only in the "off-season" from November through March.
| mission statement
The Academy is THE source for landscape design professionals to raise their skills, confidence, knowledge, and professionalism above the competition.
We respect the fact that busy professionals have limited time and funds to improve their professional lives. With that in mind, we strive to provide high value with a short investment of time.
Our goal is for attendees to be "students of the art" and cultivate the hunger to keep improving.
